Data Updates
Data Updates & Methodology Enhancements
2025 Q4 Data Refresh
Iris has been fully refreshed with 2025 Q4 Machine-Readable File (MRF) data, replacing the prior Q3 dataset. This update reflects the most recent contracted rate disclosures from national and regional carriers and health systems.
Note: Some regional plans continue to show higher levels of derived data due to incomplete or low-quality MRF disclosures. We will continue running quarterly refreshes as file quality improves. If you have questions about data completeness for a specific plan or market, please let us know.
Improved Provider Filtering & Data Quality
Provider logic has been refined to filter at the NPI and clinical subcategory level, ensuring only providers with evidence of delivering services are included. This results in a cleaner, more representative dataset and reduces noise from inactive or misclassified providers.
More Accurate Benchmarking
Benchmarking now incorporates Place of Service (POS) groupings, enabling more precise cost comparisons across inpatient, outpatient, and professional settings—particularly important for network, actuarial, and site-of-care analyses.
Expanded Network Coverage
Iris now includes ~120 networks across national BUCA and regional plans, with expanded regional and alternative network coverage. We’ve also significantly streamlined our QA and plan run processes, lowering the operational lift required to continue expanding and refreshing the network database.

Disruption - Coming soon!
What is this?
The new Disruption Analysis feature allows you to see how provider coverage will change when switching carriers. It shows the percent overlap in provider market share between plans as well as which providers will be added or dropped as a result from the network change. The Disruption Analysis template will ultimately help determine if switching insurance carriers is beneficial and by how much.
If you’d like a demo, please contact your account admin or Handl Health Customer Success Manager.

What’s Included in the Disruption Analysis
• Gain/Loss Charts: Visual charts clearly compare provider gains and losses between current and proposed networks.
• Provider Breakdown Table: A detailed table shows provider-level status (Gained, Lost, or Matched), making it easy to see exactly what changes.
• Flexible Filtering & Search: Filter by network status (in-network or out-of-network), networks being compared, MSA, and provider type. You can also search for specific providers to quickly confirm whether they’re impacted.
What’s Coming Up in the Disruption Analysis
While Disruption Analysis has excellent coverage at launch, we are working diligently to bring in remaining data covering Aetna plans in CA, CO, AZ, OR, NV, NM, and ND states. Customers with access will be notified once these are available.
